EHS Announcements 4/19/2019

Good morning and welcome to the PirateTV announcements for the week of April 17th. We have rounded the corner to the end of the school year. There is a lot to tell you about this week!

Finals are quickly approaching for everyone. Seniors are starting finals from May 6th through the 9th and underclassmen are starting finals May 20th through the 22nd.

There are five steps to acing your finals, according to the University of Colorado Boulder. Step 1 is to get very organized with all of your notes for each class, Step 2 is planning a strategy, Step 3 is to take breaks from doing work so you don’t get stressed out, Step 4 is to avoid cutting corners which means to find a solution for the problem, and Step 5 is to always ask for help when you need it.

Graduation is just around the corner. May 18 just keeps getting closer and closer. Here are some important dates.

The senior meeting is April 18 during advisory It’s mandatory so make sure to be there. April 23 is graduation auditions for speaking and singing. Graduation agreements are due April 30, so be sure to turn them in the main office. The Farewell assembly is May 10, to say goodbye to your pirate family. Graduation rehearsal is May 17.

Remember to turn in all community service hours and be sure to keep on top of credits to ensure graduation will go smoothly. We are so proud of all of you for reaching this point and are looking forward to what you will do after high school!

Seniors, write your speeches, prepare your songs, tryouts for graduation presenters will be April 23rd.

You’ll need to sign up for an audition slot on the main office. We’re proud to say that according to the Englewood district website, our graduation rate has climbed, and you can be part of this amazing event.

She and other Latino students from all Colorado gather for this annual event. Englewood Latino Leadership alliance participated and was able to do workshops and got information about scholarships and colleges.

HIgh school prom is a tradition that has been around for decades.

This year’s prom is at the beautiful Parkside Mansion. It is right across from the Denver Zoo. Tickets are on sale at lunch outside of Ms.B’s room. Tickets are selling for $40 until April 20th. After that they will be $45 and tickets at the door will be $50.

Seniors, if you’re planning on attending prom with a friend who is not from our school, remember to get a Guest Sheet from the main office.

The sheet needs to be filled out and returned to the main office before noon on May 1st. Your guest must be under 20 years old and can’t be below 9th grade. A signed parent permission form is going to be required for the Juniors and Seniors and their registered guest to attend After Prom. Please pick up a form in the main office or the Athletic Office.

make sure to get it Wednesday, Thursday or Friday April 17-19 between 3:20 and 4pm in the teacher’s lounge. This is the time to shine for your special night of the year. This is for juniors and seniors to enjoy a night out with all the excitement that goes with it.

The Englewood 6th annual jazz night is coming up on the 27th of april,

come enjoy performances by the high school and middle school jazz bands. The performance will include a silent auction and a dessert table. Tickets online will be 18-dollars, 20-dollars at the door and 25-dollars for a V-I-P table. Dinner will be included. It starts at 6:00 and will end at 9:00. Come to Englewood’s jazz night for amazing performances from our students!

The 2019 yearbooks are on sale. (pic) (fscg)Don’t miss your chance to get one so you can keep the memories from your year alive. They are $45 dollars, one of the least expensive yearbooks in the state. You can’t turn down that deal.

Seniors only, a lot can change in four years and many memories were made. if you want to see how much you’ve changed since Freshmen year, we are selling the book from that year for only 5 dollars more. See Ms. Shotts for more information. Books will be delivered at the Luau in May

Help yourself out with an afternoon cup of coffee! Stop by Pier 13 Coffee for your caffeine fix. It will be open this afternoon during 5th period, so swing by the cafe near the front office to treat yourself.

In sports… Baseball won its game against Arvada.

Thomas O’Connor pitched 6 and a third innings, giving up just 2 runs. The Pirates used a 5 run 3rd inning and a late run off of a Mason Roberston triple in the 6th inning. The game was closed out by Ayden Garcia who got the final two outs. Final score 6-4.

Tennis plays JFK at home tonight at 4, Baseball takes on Denver West at home tonight, Lacrosse is at home against Littleton tonight.

The Englewood varsity track & field team has a non-conference meet “GW Patriot Invite” on Saturday, @ 9:30a, Lacrosse plays Golden Saturday, and soccer plays Denver Christian Saturday as well.
