It is Thursday afternoon and you can find Tyler Hastings on stage. He’s practicing his solo for the Englewood High School Holiday Concert in the auditorium. He is riding a high like the high notes he is hitting after learning he made the All-State band. “I’m so excited!” said Hastings taking a short break from his tune-up session. He said he practices at least an hour every day to be good enough to make the state band. Tyler is also an all State alternate in Jazz Band.
The All-State Concert Band is comprised of 106 students representing 49 high schools. A total of 877 students from 152 schools participated in the recent All-State Bands auditions.
EHS’s Jonathan Westerfield made All-State Orchestra and Concert Band playing the French horn.
