When you play football at the high school level, you always wonder if your senior year marks the end of your glory years on the field. One Englewood High School student knows his time at EHS is just the beginning. Kyle Robideau has played defense for the Pirates football team during his time at Englewood. he played so well, he caught the attention of a college scout.

He loves it here, “Just the whole family atmosphere, you know everyone and everyone’s like family.” When you speak to teachers, it is clear, he has earned some respect, “Kyle has been in my AVID class all four of his years at EHS. During that time, he has served as a role model for his peers both in the classroom and on the football field. I am both proud and honored to have been his teacher” said Sam Irving.

He has made a lasting impact on other students as well, “I think he is a very good student, very educated. I think it is a little shocking him receiving such an honor. But I know he can do it. I think he is going to do well in his college years” Cherish Headley (12).

Robideau is doing what nearly every student-athlete has dreamed. He gets to play football in college. Just a few weeks ago, it was National Letter of Intent Signing Day and Robideau signed his intent to play football at Chadron State College in Nebraska. He took part in a ceremony near the South Fieldhouse. His family was there to support him. Kyle says, “It was the greatest feeling in the world, finally being able to say I made it.”

He says he was able to work hard on the field because his family supported him off it, “My parents and I couldn’t be more excited about the program.” Robideau is glad Chadron picked him, “I like it cause it’s close enough that I can come back for breaks and long weekends but far enough that I’m away.”

Other students have no doubt he will do just fine in college, “He is a great student that helps his peers. I believe he deserves this scholarship and will do amazing his freshmen year of college” Kaylee Coker (12).
