The seniors led the school in enthusiasm as the entire campus gathered in the field house Friday. It was the yearly kick-off to celebrate homecoming week. Each class showed Pirate pride by wearing class colors and participating in activities and the fight song.
This year’s theme is “Starry Night”. Many students are excited but wish we had more original ideas. “I think the theme of homecoming is cute. I think we have used the dress up day themes in past years. I’m going to the homecoming dance,” Jade Cordova (12) said. Alyssa Torrez (11) is excited for the week of activities, “Because it’s a time that everyone comes together. It’s a good bonding experience.”
Many students believe this year feels different as more people wore school colors and celebrated as one family.
Each year, for nearly a century, Englewood has celebrated homecoming week with a parade, bonfire, homecoming football game and dance. Lizzy Young (11) said, ”I’m pretty excited, our class seems ready for homecoming. I think it will be better than last year.”
This year begins a new trend in class colors as each class will keep their colors through their year at EHS. Freshmen wear green, Sophomores wear orange, Juniors don purple, and Seniors wear blue. Staff will continue to wear black.
