Lance Lammers was an unsure college student before he even thought of becoming a teacher, “I was reckless and playing sports and, yeah, this is my first, adult job. So I was a college student who was enjoying life.”
Before Lammers was a teacher he wanted to become a physical therapist but that didn’t work out, “I couldn’t become a physical therapist. I always grew up with my mom and my dad who are both teachers, and I swore off teaching and said I would never do it, but then I wanted to be a physical therapist, and I got into my first anatomy class and studied seven hours to get a 70% on my first test.”
Once Lammers figured out that being a physical therapist wasn’t for him, he decided to become a teacher, “So I figured this probably isn’t for me, and I know I can’t sit behind a desk because I can’t focus on anything. So I knew being a PE teacher, that I could be up and moving around, and I didn’t mind kids. So I thought I could be a teacher.”
Lammers struggles between the cons and pros of being a teacher, “I think the students are probably my favorite thing about being a teacher because I think I get a lot of energy from you guys. I like being around you guys. I think the worst part about teaching is grading because I think I can’t sit and focus on grading for very long.” Lammers has been at EHS for several years.
