The caption read, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” followed by a stick of dynamite. The news was shared on Swift’s Instagram account on August 26, 2025. The post got over a million likes in less than 10 minutes.
“I was in the lunch line and got a notification that she (Swift) posted on her story. I thought it was a new vinyl variant drop for her new album. I clicked it and my jaw dropped,” senior Alex Fox said. She has been a die-hard Swiftie for years, “I’ve liked her since 2014. I like how genuine she is in her music and her life experiences.” Fox went to the Eras tour July 14, 2023 in Denver.
“I like how diverse her music is and how she started with country and moved into pop,” senior Ashley Berry said, “She (Taylor Swift) deserves it after many years of being with someone who didn’t really like her. Travis Kelce is not intimidated by how huge of a star she is.” Berry got to go to the 1989 World Tour concert, the Reputation Stadium tour and the Eras tour “both nights”.
Social studies teacher Sean Stetler, “huge Swiftie, yeah,” found out about the engagement from his students, “I just heard. Big news. I’m very excited. I think it’s great. I think it is a great love story. I can’t wait to see the wedding.”
Issac Emiliano Paredes Lira is a freshman at EHS. He was very excited, “I love it. I went to the ERAs tour on VIP passes with my brother.” He thinks Kelce is a great choice for Swift.
Kelce and Swift have been dating for two years.
The news about the engagement came just a few weeks after Swift spent nearly three hours chatting with Kelce and his brother, Jason, on the “New Heights” podcast. Swift also announced details about her new album, “The Life of a Showgirl.” The new tracks will come out in October.
In the first photo on the Instagram post, Kelce got down on one knee near Swift under a floral arch. Another image in the series shows Swift sporting a large ring.
“I gasped and looked at Mrs. Sanchez, and said, ‘Taylor Swift and Kelce are engaged!’ We both looked at Instagram together,” said Sydney Gonzales, the athletic secretary. Gonzales is more of a Travis Kelce fan but likes Swift as well. “He is very attractive and athletic.” Gonzalez was wondering if the upcoming wedding would turn into a live event on TV or a private affair.
Many are comparing it to a royal wedding. The Governor of Colorado, Jared Polis, has invited the couple to get married in the mountains. He said on Instagram, “Congrats Taylor and Travis! I always knew you two were Eng Game. Your Love Story is So High School and Colorado Swifies are Down Bad with excitement over your engagement. Skip Florida!!! and exchange your Paper Rings in the majestic Rocky Mountains.” He even signed it – “Jared Polis, Colorado Governor, Certified Swiftie Wedding Officiant.”
One freshmen, Ryan Suazo, said he has nothing against Taylor Swift, but he really doesn’t like Travis Kelce. Why? “I really hate the Chiefs,” spoken like a true Bronco fan.
