Hello, and welcome to the PirateTV Announcements at Englewood High School! Today is a short episode for a short week. I’m Juliet Arana. Let’s jump into this week’s updates!
Parent-teacher conferences are in person tonight at Englewood High School. Join us from 4:30 to 7:30. You get a chance to meet with your teachers, discuss grades, and other academics. If you miss the in-person conference, there are virtual conference on October 15. Your teachers could call home from 4:30 to 7:30. Reach out to your teacher via email if you need support.
Because there is no school on Thursday, Friday, or Monday for fall break, there is a special schedule on Wednesday. Classes will be shorter, but there is still a late start at 9:10. Please be on time. Please take note, all seven classes will meet on Wednesday.
It is almost time for the fall play, presented by your Englewood Theater Troop. I take you behind the scenes as cast and crew get ready to put on a fantastic show.

The Englewood Theatre Company is at it again as they prepare to enchant audiences with their fall production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The company is under new management this year after a series of staff changes, but Mixed Rainsford assures students that this year will be better than ever for the performing arts. It’s complicated. So I know that the school has a lot of people that are really involved. Like, we’ve got a great set design team, we’ve got a great tech team, and lots of enthusiasm from the students. So that feels really good. I’m definitely excited for our For All show at Summer Night’s Dream. It’s going to be great. I think everyone is going to love it and have a great time and fall in love, hopefully, with Shakespeare as it’s something a little bit old but a little bit new. and we’re gonna put our own stuff into it. This new leadership also ushers in the return of something that was lost from the theater for many years, middle school participation. The increase in theater participants and general interest in the arts ensures that Englewood Theater will continue long after this year’s seniors leave. Thespian President John Brennan discusses the change. Middle schoolers always provide a bigger cast, a better community. I started in middle school. A lot of my friends started in middle school, and it just gets you more excited and it gets more people hyped up for high school theater, which is where the magic really happens. Middle schoolers are like an integral part of every show we do. We wouldn’t be able to learn them. Well, we have done them in the past without middle schoolers, but it’s just not the same. I feel like me and all my senior peers have done a great job, and after this year, we’re going to leave the theater in a great place for what I hope is a new beginning with a bunch of new people. A Midsummer Night’s Dream is a whimsical tale of love, magic, and mayhem where fairies mettle, lovers get tangled, and mules aren’t just used for travel. Performances will be on November 10th, 11th, and 12th. For more information, please see the theater Instagram page at engtheatercompany or you can always visit thepirateteer.com for more information.
It is a short sports week as well. On Friday, the varsity football team plays an away game against Strasburg at 7:00 p.m., and on Saturday, there is a league tournament for varsity volleyball. And a softball tournament as well.
