Hello and welcome to the PirateTV announcements for the week of March 8, 2019. We have a lot to get to today.

You will soon see major changes to Pirate Stadium as a renovation to the entire facility begins soon. Casey Cheatum has the story about the plan and tells us how Spring athletes feel about the changes.

A quick note, we got an update from the school district that an exact timeline has not been set. In fact, we understand that the construction may not begin until after spring sports. We will keep you updated on the schedule on the pirateer.com as soon as that information becomes available.

EHS seniors are working hard, filling out applications for college and scholarships. Graduation is only 11 weeks away. A few things you need to know…Most schools consider financial aid on a first come first served basis. However, if you missed the March 1 priority deadline, you should DEFINITELY still apply to get financial aid!!! EHS Spring FAFSA Day – March 21: 8:00am – 8:00pm (during conferences), in the Future Center. Also, seniors, double check that you have a cap and gown ordered!

also Seniors! If you’re still looking for money to pay for college, make sure you stop by the Future Center to ask Ms. Erin about the 3 Englewood scholarships that just opened! These are only available to seniors in our district! See Ms. Erin today!!”

The bi-annual blood drive held last week was a huge success. The national honor society says…78 pints of blood were donated by 85 people. The significance of that donation is the equivalent total of 234 lives saved.

Yearbook class is selling the yearly book for only 45.00. It is one of the least expensive yearbooks in Colorado. Don’t miss your chance to hold onto the memories from your year.

The theatre and tech department performed the spring musical fiddler on the roof to large crowds last weekend. Even the snow storm saturday night couldn’t keep fans away. The entire play was quite an undertaking. Pirate tv’s Elowyn Fahnestock has our story.

There are two large performances coming up in the next few weeks. The Englewood choirs will all join together, including elementary, middle and high school for the annual Music In Our Schools Month performance. This is on March 19th at 7pm.

Also, the 6th annual jazz night is April 27th. It is called “half of my heart is in havana” and begins at 6pm. Tickets are $18.00 on line and dinner is included in the concert along with a silent auction and dessert table.

This is an exciting new chapter in the lives of several of our senior Englewood student athletes. Pirate TV’s Vivian Cedillo has their story.

Senior Ikaika Gonzalez-Bentosino also had his day to shine… signing with Chadron State College to play football. Gonzalez had a stellar season with the Pirates on offense now has a chance to further his education and his football skills.

Finally, all spring sports are in practice mode this week with games and matches beginning next week. Make sure to support your Pirate athletes who compete in track, lacrosse, girls soccer, tennis and baseball. Also get the latest scores and highlights on the pirateer.com.

That’s it for us. Thanks for joining us. To find out the latest news from EHS, check out thepirateer.com or follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Have a great week!
