90 minute delay RULES

Englewood District has recently made a 90-minute delay schedule, On snow mornings the district will decide if they are going to enforce a late start or a snow day. If a delayed start is called all Englewood schools will start 90 minutes later than usual. All schools will be dismissed at a normal time prior to the delayed start. Englewood High school would be starting school at 9:50 if a snow day were to take place.

Many students would rather just have a snow day because some say, the 90-minute late start can be inefficient to their lives. ¨If it’s gonna snow, what’s a late start gonna do?¨ Hannah Drolshagen (12) said. Many students like Drolshagen rely on parents to take them to school, ¨My mom has to leave at a certain time because I don’t drive, so how would I get to school?¨

Students also drive themselves to school which could be a huge hazard. ¨A snow day should be given,¨ said Brandy Alba (12). She says students driving themselves to school can be a huge risk. Especially if there is snow on the ground.

“It’s not great because kids look forward to a snow day, but after a few hours, it’s gone. It’s just how Colorado is. I think it’s a good idea,” said Ana Berisa (10).

“When the snow stops and it’s sunny, there can still be ice on the roads. So I’m not sure how it will be for us. My mom drives me and the roads can still be bad,” said Mckenna Bone (12).
