MIOSM concert melds Englewood schools in one voice

The 6th annual Englewood District festival choir concerts celebrated “Music in our schools month” (MIOSM) at the EHS auditorium. Clayton elementary, Cherrylyn Elementary, Englewood Middle school, and Englewood Leadership Academy joined the choirs of EHS for a night where singing voices were in brilliant form.

The MIOSM concert is part of a nationally-recognized celebration of music in schools during the month of March. It is part of the National Association for Music Education (NAMFE). The group urges continued participation in music in schools saying it leads to stronger performance in the classroom and in life.

The concert started with all choirs and the audience performing “The Star-Spangled Banner”. The audience delighted in hearing “With a song”, “Bound for glory”, “Sixteen Tons” and ended with the song written by Choir director Garlyn Saddler called “Breath of Spring”.
