A lot of people can debate art. Is it beautiful? Creative? Unique?
It can come in the form of music, drawing, painting, and ceramics. Art is a diverse range of human ingenuity that can express imagination, concepts, or technical skill, aimed at evoking emotional, aesthetic, or intellectual responses.
Amaya Martinez is in advanced ceramics class at Englewood High School and she is a freshman. ”I do a lot of things, I’m in ceramics, I am decent at art, but ceramics is easier, because I like creating things.”
Those things include pots and animals. “I have a lot of friends there, and it’s pretty fun, So I get to make a lot of things I could just use at home.”
Martinez isn’t planning to add art as a career, “It’s probably gonna be a hobby, because what I’m aiming for is nothing about art, but I’d rather like it as a hobby, because I’m probably aiming to be more medical in the future. I actually do love art and ceramics, because I could be creative.”
She loves art and thinks it is beautiful.
Emily Ancona is the art teacher at Englewood High School, ”I love that I get to spend so much time with so many creative students, and I love that they make really good artwork and really funny artwork and really interesting artwork and my job is fun every day.”
She thinks art is a very important to learn because you use basic skills. “So first of all, I think art is so important because it’s self expression and that is so important. I also think that there’s so many soft skills that people learn in art, like cleaning up after yourself, being independent, problem solving, working with other people, critical thinking, like there’s so many things that we do in art class, just naturally on an everyday basis, that you have to do to be successful in life. So art is so important.”
She thinks art is beautiful, “I do. I actually sometimes I think that students worry that their art isn’t, isn’t good, or it doesn’t look perfect, but, sometimes the art that isn’t perfect is my favorite kind of art, because it shows everyone’s kind of personality show through their artwork, which is why I love it so much, yes, I think art. I don’t say all art, most art, most art’s beautiful.” She wants to continue teaching students all kinds of art, “I have 15 more years until I retire, yes, I think I’m stuck here. Look, I’d have to move all my plants. I can’t go anywhere.”
