Good afternoon, and welcome. We’re the EHS broadcast team, and thank you for joining us for this live community conversation.
Today, we’re honored to speak with Englewood Police Chief David Jackson about issues that directly impact our students, families, and neighbors. We’ll be discussing teen safety, traffic concerns around our schools and neighborhoods, and local curfew policies—topics that affect everyday life in Englewood.
We’ll also address questions surrounding ICE and how national policies connect to our local community, with the goal of providing clarity and accurate information.
Our focus today is open dialogue, understanding, and keeping our community informed. Thank you for being part of this important discussion.
Welcome, Chief Jackson!
Can you tell us a little about your background?
Why did you choose to move to Englewood?
What have you noticed about Englewood since moving here?
How safe are teens in Englewood?
Let’s talk about the curfew. What are the rules for teenagers in Englewood?
Some teens told us they carry pepper spray for protection. Is that legal here?
Can we switch to Immigration? We have a lot of students who are afraid that they will come home to empty houses and their parents will be gone, picked up by ICE agents. What is the Englewood Police Department’s role in immigration?
We read the information out on the police department’s social media account. What would you like students and other citizens to know about this policy?
Finally, back to the teens. We have Officer Watts here at school. Many students get to know him. What other ways can we improve the relationship between the police and students?
Now we’re going to move to questions submitted by our Englewood students.
Thank you so much for spending time with us. And thank you to those who tuned in. Have a great day.
