Varsity volleyball has a clear road ahead of state

Riverdale Ridge is a new school with young players but they put up a strong fight against the dominant Englewood varsity team. The Pirate ladies won Thursday night (10/11) and are currently at the top of the conference. Upcoming matches against Alameda (10/16), Arvada (10/18), Fort Lupton (10/23), and Skyview (10/25) should cement their placement at state.

The regular season ends with a four-match tournament on Saturday, October 27 at Manitou Springs.  “We need to finish strong,” says Coach Erika James.
She says the team is strong this year as most players have been together for at least two years and they know how each player works best in which position, “We are also currently #8 in the state. The first round of the state tournament takes the top 36 teams. Those teams play in 12 regions in pools of 3 teams. The top 12 teams host a region. We are hoping to remain in the top 12 to host on Saturday, November 3 in the morning.”
The outright winner of each region goes on to the final round of the state tournament on November 8 – 10 at the Denver Coliseum.
