Englewood Cheer team became back-to-back champions of the Colorado 7 League. “This season has had its ups and downs. I can proudly say that we are defending League Champs, however, the road to State has been rocky,” said Kaylie Carpenter (12).

The routine was two and a half minutes long full of stunts, dances, jumps and tumbling. Next up is State. The team went up against every 2A/3A co-ed squad in Colorado. Their goal was to make it to finals. Nothing could hold this team back. “As the Cheer Manager for all three seasons, I’ve watched this year’s team grow from strangers to family as they work hard on a daily basis to come out on top at the competition,” said Manager Kilgore Shattuck (12).

They recently had to rearrange their routine to add in more stunts, tumbling and jumps. “They’ve had to overcome plenty of obstacles and setbacks, but under Coach Ginger’s guidance, they persevere as the competition date approaches,” Shattuck says.

The team has to get their routine verified through CHSAA to make sure they are doing the proper stunts so no stunts get deducted. “Every year our team is met with several changes and challenges, and this year has definitely been no exception.” Bria Look (12) says the comp team practices almost every day of the week. Look finished the season as league cheer MVP.

During Thanksgiving Break, the comp squad was on a brief rise and cheer schedule. “I think our competition season has been the most difficult for us all. State is big deal and for many of us the goal we’ve been working tirelessly towards is to make it to finals. I love this team and the people on it and I have hope that when all our efforts come together we’ll make great things happen.” Look says.

The team is very close, “As a cheerleader who is cheering all three seasons this year, it’s been exciting to watch our growth and bonds developing as a team.” said Look.

During the state competition, the coach said the cheer team had its cleanest routine and nailed the stunts bringing home 9th overall at the event at the Denver Coliseum.
