This is the first year 10th grader Nate Gravagno went out for EHS track and field. It was a good decision, “My devotion to other sports and the time I had to spend working and practicing basketball. I also played soccer in middle school.” It wasn’t a priority until this year, “ I found out I was good at it, so I wanted to work hard at it.”

Gravagno took on five events, 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, 300-meter hurdles, 110-meter hurdles and the 4×4 relay. “The hurdles were my favorite because I was good at it and I could actually win,” said Gravagno. He runs a 40-meter dash in 4.8. He says that makes him faster between the hurdles, “I have long strides.”

Nate Gravagno got 3rd place in the Denver South Invitational meet in the 300-meter hurdles.

Gravagno really shined in the 300-meter hurdles. “42.67. I came in 16th in the state.”

Now he’s off to the state qualifier. It is on Friday at South Jeffco Stadium. “I’m pretty excited, but it’s really nerve-wracking. Because I have to perform my best. I know I’ll have to run my fastest time ever if I hope to win a medal at state. I have to focus on how much sleep I get and what I eat so that my body can be ready so I can be in good shape.”
